Comments are allowed on Joe’s Jottings. So what is the policy on moderation?

There will always be users who decide to post inappropriate material and hence comments are queued for checking (‘moderation’) before I post them. 

What constitutes inappropriate material?

• Illegal, sexist, obscene, threatening, or offensive material
• Comments that are libelous or defamatory
• Material copied and pasted from a discussion elsewhere
• Multiple postings of the same issue
• Advertisements for commercial products
• Copyrighted material
• Comments that look like they come from someone else

Anything of this nature will simply disappear in to the pit and never see the light of day.  Anyone who repeatedly attempts to post such material may be dealt with to the full extent permissable by English Law.

Should comments that you regard as offensive or defamatory appear on this site, please contact me through the site Contact Form with an explanation as to what the comment is and why you regard it as requiring removal.  I will then look in to it and deal with it within 12 hours of my receipt of the email.

What about freedom of speech?

Sorry folks, there isn’t any on this Blog.  I’m afraid that as I pay the bills, I set the editorial policy.

Can I reproduce material from your site?

Material posted on Joe’s Jottings is copyright; you may, however, use it with full attribution.  That means that you must include a link to the site whenever you use material from the site.

Privacy

Should you post a comment, the details you enter and the IP address you post from will be logged against the comment.  Should the comment be deleted, those details will also be deleted.  Should you wish a comment made by you deleted, please contact me through the Contact Form on the site and I will remove it.

If you post a comment, please don’t post any private details – like phone numbers or street addresses.  Name, Email address and website addresses are OK.  Any other identifying information will be removed before the comment is posted.
